About Us
Jenni Comte, Registration/DJ Coordinator
Jenni started dancing in 2000 and quickly fell in love with blues dancing. After helping plan STLBX 2002 she was addicted. 2009 has brought the opportunity to DJ and share her love of music with fellow dancers. This year she is working hard to bring you an exchange that will leave you talking and wanting to come back next year.
When not planning events or dancing, she can be found hiking, camping or spending time with her daughter. And even on that rare occasion…dare I say, sleeping.
Jeff Scott, Organizer
Dancing since 2000 Jeff, spent a few years denying that he was a dancer. It was just a little hobby, not an identity. After his non-dancer friends kept calling to make sure he hadn't perished in an industrial accident, he realized he had, in fact, become a dancer. Since then, Jeff has embraced Swing, Blues, and Argentine Tango. While still an outdoorsman and gearhead at heart, dance has taken over the majority of his free time. Now that he has a "real" job where traveling is strictly prohibited most of the year, he has joined with others who share his passion to help others "Get the Blues" in his home town of St. Louis.
Terri Montgomery, Housing
Terri started swing dancing in 1998 after seeing a sweaty throng dancing to a local neo-swing band. Having already enjoyed mosh pits, it looked like a way to enjoy the same zesty energy without as many injuries. She was introduced to the musicality and connection of Blues Dance at a Lindy Hop Workshop in Cincinnati in 1998, but it wasn't until 2003 that she had another taste of Blues Dance, right here in St. Louis.
Terri remains playful and irreverent in her dance style, in an effort to draw attention away from the fact that she doesn't practice. When she's not travelling twice a year to exchanges to be humbled and inspired by others' mad skills, she can be found working, geeking out on food/liquor recipes, creatively driving others insane, or sleeping with her dogs.
Clint Zehner, Webmaster
Clint loves long walks on the beach... sorry, wrong bio.
With a long and varied history, Clint has traveled... and is finding that it's getting harder and harder to avoid the police. He has been dancing swing weekly (and sometimes weakly) since 1999 and discovered the joys of blues dancing in 2005.
In addition to the Show Me Blues, Clint has been webmaster for over a dozen dance websites across the country, most of which he has treated as his own personal empires, but prefers to think of as "benevolent dictatorships." Clint is one of the founders of the Blues Association of Austin and Austin Blues Party.
And he likes cheese.
Mike Muller
Having spent 3 years doing swing, salsa and tango Mike was burning out on dancing. A hiatus was looming. Then, in February '09, he attended his first blues party. Instantly, he was hooked -- his dance spirit reborn. Since then he's traveled the country to numerous exchanges to hone his skills. He is stoked about showcasing St. Louis' amazing blues music to his fellow dancers. Hopefully you'll join him.
Scott Lowry
Scott began swing dancing in 2003 and after the next summer without dancing, he realized that sort of thing just couldn't happen again. Thus began his obsession which eventually spread to Blues and more recently, Argentine Tango. Despite having been in the scene for a few years, it was not until the first Show-Me Blues that he was able to attend an exchange in St. Louis. It was there that the blues bug really hit him along with the fun of getting to host other dancers for a hometown event.
Dan Vianello
Dan has been dancing Lindy and Blues off and on for longer than he believes possible. This year he is excited to continue his long tradition of alternating between dancing a lot and being completely AWOL. He has helped out with many of St. Louis' famed STLBX events, as well as Cheap Thrills/BluesShout. Dan loves the blues music scene of St. Louis and is happy to share the city, its music, and dancing with as many house guests as possible.
